2011 – 2012 WBHS Orchestra Auditions

Dear Orchestra Member,

I am so excited about our 2011 – 2012 orchestras. This year will prove to be a musical, learning and exciting time. To get prepared for the audition process I have included some information that you may download from the westbloomfieldorchestra website. I will be starting auditions the second week of school therefore you need to start preparing now. You will need the following for your audition:

****Scales – Download the specific scales and suggested fingers.

****Solo - You will also need a solo or etude that demonstrates your most advance musical ability.  Prepare 2 minutes of a solo or etude.  NO orchestra excerpts are allowed.  If you do not have a solo go to 8notes.com or stringskills.com where you can print free solos. 

To retrieve music from 8notes.com follow this guide. Select the GIF next to a selection.  I recommend selections by Bach (unaccompanied/ no piano listed), Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and/or Massenet.  Basses you will need to select from the cello list.  

*****There will also be sight reading.
